From the moment we walked into Tanaka of Tokyo East, everything about our experience was exceptional. The restaurant was spotless, the staff greeted us warmly as soon as we arrived, and every employee we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient. The food was absolutely delicious, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of our trip to Hawaii.

What truly set this restaurant apart, though, was how they handled my food allergies. I am gluten-free and egg-free, and I honestly wasn't expecting to be able to enjoy the full hibachi experience. At many hibachi restaurants, guests with allergies are served food prepared separately in the kitchen, if they are able to accommodate at all. At Tanaka of Tokyo, the chef prepared my meal right alongside everyone else's at the hibachi grill, taking great care with every single ingredient he used. Before adding anything, he confirmed it was safe for me, and he even made me delicious gluten and egg free fried rice, which was such a treat for me, because usually I have to forego fried rice for basic steamed. Oh I just loved it! Despite having a full table of about 10 people, he never made me feel like an inconvenience. His, as well as our lovely server and management, attention and genuine care were remarkable.

As someone with food allergies, it's rare to feel this included, and it meant so much to be able to enjoy the same fun experience and meal as my family and everyone else. The staff's knowledge of allergies, willingness to accommodate, and kindness throughout the meal made all the difference.

If you're looking for incredible hibachi, outstanding service, and a restaurant that truly goes above and beyond for guests with dietary restrictions, I cannot recommend Tanaka of Tokyo East highly enough. It was a 10/10 experience, and we will absolutely be back next time we're in Honolulu!
